Hi!
Everyone, that time is here again, it just seems like yesterday that we
had our big Leapyear 2000 birthday party
at Old Noarlunga.
I
must apologise that I haven’t been in touch before but I have been
trying to organise publicity with the local papers
so everyone would know what we are trying to achieve.
Steve
Beaty, one of our group has had contact from America and the UK and they
would like for as many as possible
to get together on the day, which is a Sunday, to try and get into the
Guinness Book Of Records ‘same birthday
gathering’ section. So please help us all celebrate and register (its
free.!) your details at the Leap Year website at
http://www.leapyearday.com
-
to
stay in contact with thousands of other Leapies
One
criteria for entering the Guinness Book Of Records, you need to bring your
original birth certificate along to be
formally witnessed and recorded on the day. Publicity is being arranged at
the moment, through the local Messenger,
hopefully with the Sunday Mail again and there could be some TV coverage
as well, so lets all make the effort to be
there at the picnic on Sunday 29th our BIG DAY AGAIN, WE WOULD
LIKE TO HAVE AN ANSWER FROM YOU.
If
you would be inclined to contact me about this,
I can be reached on 8326 3190 or by e-mail at liljohn@netexpress.com.au
It’s
a family Leapie picnic day so bring your own picnic, drinks, chairs, rug
etc, even if you are having a family get
together, BRING THEM ALL, it could be a great day for everyone to enjoy.
There
are a lot of names on the register I have and we would like to put some
faces to those we haven’t already met.
LEAPYEAR
NEEDS TO BE A RECOGNIZED EVENT, AS MANY PEOPLE DON’T KNOW HOW UNUSUAL IT
IS.
So
lets all get together and anyone else that you know that has Leapyear
birthday, tell them the good news.
LOOK
FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU AND THEN MEETING YOU.
RUTH
JOHNSTONE, I WILL BE 18 THIS YEAR.
P.S.
PICNIC
WILL BE IN BONYTHON PARK, PT ROAD. THERE IS PLENTY OF SHADE, TOILETS
HANDY, KIOSK
AND CAR PARKING.
Bye
for now Ruth & Steve your organisers.
